Overview
- A low-pressure area formed over the west-central Bay of Bengal around 5:30 pm on September 30, according to the IMD.
- The system is forecast to move west-northwest, intensify into a depression by October 2, and make landfall near the south Odisha–north Andhra Pradesh coast on the morning of October 3.
- Rain is expected across all 30 districts of Odisha on October 2, with very heavy falls possible in parts of Kandhamal, Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput, and Malkangiri.
- Orange and Yellow warnings have been issued for multiple districts, with heavy rain likely in areas including Ganjam, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Puri, Khurda, Cuttack, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, and Keonjhar.
- Thunderstorms with lightning and winds of 30–50 km/h are likely in coastal and interior areas, and fishermen have been advised to avoid the sea from October 1 to 4.
