Safe Superintelligence (SSI), an AI startup founded by Ilya Sutskever, is reportedly close to raising over $1 billion, led by Greenoaks Capital Partners.
The funding round would elevate SSI's valuation to over $30 billion, up from $5 billion in its last round in September 2024.
SSI's mission is to create a 'safe superintelligence,' with no immediate plans to release products or generate revenue.
The startup was co-founded in June 2024 by Sutskever, Daniel Gross, and Daniel Levy following Sutskever's departure from OpenAI.
SSI's valuation would make it one of the most valuable private AI companies, alongside competitors like Anthropic, xAI, and Perplexity AI.
