Officers reported finding a half-empty bottle of red wine, breath mints, and the smell of alcohol in Steele's vehicle, and she declined to complete a field sobriety test.
Steele was charged with one misdemeanor count of driving under the influence and is scheduled to appear in court on December 27.
The Chicago Sun-Times Editorial Board has called for Steele's resignation, citing her behavior as unprofessional and unfit for public office.
