Overview
- State Rep. Hoan Huynh said six CBP agents blocked the front and rear of his vehicle on Tuesday around 11:30 a.m. and that one agent pointed a firearm into the open passenger window.
- Video shared by Huynh’s office shows masked agents in tactical gear surrounding the car as one agent holds a phone to the windshield and another films the occupants.
- Huynh said an agent threatened to break a window and that the group was conducting a community Know Your Rights patrol when the stop occurred.
- DHS, ICE and CBP did not immediately respond to requests for comment on the encounter.
- Huynh’s staff said they believe at least four people were taken in the area that day, and the incident follows recent complaints, including a federal tort claim filed by Ald. Jessie Fuentes after an Oct. 3 detention.
