Illinois Government Attorney Fired, Resigns from Bar Association Over Antisemitic Social Media Comments

Sarah Chowdhury, an attorney for the Illinois Comptroller's office, was fired immediately after admitting to posting anti-Semitic comments on Instagram during a discussion about the Israel-Hamas war.
Chowdhury's comments included vulgar anti-Semitic slurs and a pro-Hitler statement, leading to an immediate public outcry when they were made public by another Instagram user.
Upon discovering her comments, the South Asian Bar Association of Chicago immediately dismissed Chowdhury from her position as president of their organization.
Chowdhury expressed remorse for her actions, claiming she was 'distraught' over the ongoing conflict in the Middle East and frustrated by media coverage. She apologized publicly to both the individual with whom she was in heated exchange and anyone who read her remarks.
