Overview

  • Illinois school districts have set varied start, end and break dates for 2025–26 under the Illinois School Code, which mandates a minimum of 176 student attendance days.
  • Chicago Public Schools will run K–12 from August 18, 2025, to June 4, 2026, and preschool from August 19 to June 3, with winter break from December 22 to January 2 and spring break March 23–27.
  • The SEP’s official national calendar published in the Diario Oficial de la Federación fixes basic education from September 1, 2025, to July 15, 2026, with 185 instructional days.
  • Mexico’s calendar cuts five instructional days compared to 2024–25 and incorporates extended winter (Dec 22–Jan 9) and Easter (Mar 30–Apr 10) recesses alongside scheduled Consejo Técnico sessions.
  • Under the Nueva Escuela Mexicana reforms announced May 15, teachers will receive a 9% salary increase plus an additional 1% from September and gain one extra week of vacation.
