Illegal Immigrant Charged in Fatal DUI Crash Had Been Deported Four Times

Jose Guadalupe Menjivar-Alas, previously deported four times, is now charged with vehicular homicide after a fatal crash in Colorado that claimed the lives of a mother and her son.

Jose Guadalupe Menjivar-Alas, an illegal immigrant from El Salvador, has been charged with vehicular homicide reckless, vehicular homicide DUI and habitual traffic offender after allegedly causing a fatal crash in Colorado that killed a mother and her son.
Menjivar-Alas had been deported from the U.S. four times previously and has multiple convictions for alcohol-related driving offenses.
The fatal crash occurred on Dec. 12, 2023, and Menjivar-Alas was arrested three days later.
Retired ICE Denver Field Office Director John Fabbricatore criticized Colorado's sanctuary policies, claiming they allowed Menjivar-Alas to remain in the community despite his criminal record.
ICE has lodged a detainer with Broomfield County to seek Menjivar-Alas' arrest.
