• Jose Guadalupe Menjivar-Alas, an illegal immigrant from El Salvador, has been charged with vehicular homicide reckless, vehicular homicide DUI and habitual traffic offender after allegedly causing a fatal crash in Colorado that killed a mother and her son.
• Menjivar-Alas had been deported from the U.S. four times previously and has multiple convictions for alcohol-related driving offenses.
• The fatal crash occurred on Dec. 12, 2023, and Menjivar-Alas was arrested three days later.
• Retired ICE Denver Field Office Director John Fabbricatore criticized Colorado's sanctuary policies, claiming they allowed Menjivar-Alas to remain in the community despite his criminal record.
• ICE has lodged a detainer with Broomfield County to seek Menjivar-Alas' arrest.
