Overview

  • The Dirigera hub beta now functions as a Matter controller and Thread border router, supporting Matter 1.4 and Thread 1.4 features such as energy monitoring and network joining.
  • Starting in January 2026, Ikea will roll out over 20 new smart lights, sensors, and remotes built on Matter-over-Thread with fresh designs and form factors.
  • Each new device can be set up directly in Apple HomeKit, Amazon Alexa, Google Home, Samsung SmartThings, Home Assistant and other Matter ecosystems without requiring Ikea’s app or hub.
  • Ikea has confirmed pricing for the upcoming products will be comparable to or lower than its existing Tradfri lineup to ensure continued affordability.
  • The company plans to phase out its Zigbee-based Tradfri ecosystem over time while retaining Zigbee Touchlink compatibility and updating Dirigera to support additional product categories.
