IKEA Announces Affordable Smart Home Sensors
The sensors, priced under $10, are set for staggered US release in 2024.
- IKEA has announced the release of three new smart home sensors: Parasoll, a door and window sensor; Vallhorn, a wireless motion sensor; and Badring, a water leakage sensor.
- Each sensor is priced under $10, making them affordable additions to IKEA's smart home product line.
- The sensors are compatible with IKEA's Dirigera Hub, but only the Vallhorn sensor is compatible with the older Tradfri gateway.
- The sensors are set to be available in the US in a staggered release: Vallhorn in January, Parasoll in April, and Badring in July 2024.
- Despite previous promises, IKEA has yet to upgrade its Dirigera hub to support Matter, a next-generation smart home standard.
