Overview
- IIT Hyderabad announced the Nuclear Technology Orientation Programme on Tuesday, June 23, in partnership with Crimson Energy Experts Pvt Ltd to create a focused training pipeline for nuclear work.
- The programme is a three-month residential course that will begin on August 3 at the IITH campus and targets early- and mid-career engineers, EPC managers, consultants, power-sector staff and public sector executives.
- The curriculum blends foundational subjects and applied practice, covering reactor physics, reactor engineering, radiation shielding, safety, waste management, instrumentation and control, thermal hydraulics, emergency preparedness and Small Modular Reactors (SMRs).
- IITH faculty will teach alongside experienced scientists and engineers from the Department of Atomic Energy ecosystem, and completers are reported to receive a joint certificate from IITH and Crimson Energy Experts while fees, application deadlines and selection criteria remain unannounced.
- The programme responds to India’s push to expand nuclear power and could speed hiring and upskilling for plant operations, safety and manufacturing roles, but its long-term impact will depend on cohort size, cost and formal links to employers.
