Overview

• The official portal gate2026.iitg.ac.in is now live with exam schedules and registration guidelines for GATE 2026.
• Online applications open August 25, close September 25 without a late fee and remain available until October 6 with an additional charge.
• The test will be held on February 7, 8, 14 and 15, 2026 in two daily sessions from 9:30 AM–12:30 PM and 2:30 PM–5:30 PM.
• GATE 2026 includes 30 papers with the introduction of the Energy Science (XE-I) sectional exam and allows candidates to attempt up to two approved papers.
• Valid for three years, GATE scores will support admission to postgraduate and doctoral programmes and serve as a key metric for PSU recruitment.
