Delhi Student Found Dead in Hostel Room, Suicide Suspected

A 21-year-old MSc student from Jharkhand was found hanging, with no suicide note discovered, as police investigate further.

The student, identified as Kumar Yash, was a second-year MSc student at IIT Delhi hailing from Deoghar, Jharkhand.
Friends and IIT staff discovered the body after breaking into the locked room, as it was inaccessible from the inside.
Medical records indicate that Yash was undergoing psychiatric treatment, with a follow-up appointment scheduled for October 29.
Police have recorded statements from friends and are conducting further investigations under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita.
The incident follows another recent student suicide at IIT Kanpur, highlighting ongoing concerns about mental health pressures in academic institutions.
