IIT Delhi Launches First In‑Person Academic Programme at Sonipat Campus

The one-year diploma will train international fellows in applied solar technology, provide monthlong Europe internships, and place graduates at STAR-C centres to boost solar capacity in ISA member countries.

Overview

  • IIT Delhi began the Postgraduate Diploma in Solar Systems and Management at its Sonipat campus with physical classes, marking the campus's first teaching programme.
  • The Department of Energy Science and Engineering is running the one-year, hands-on course in partnership with the International Solar Alliance and France’s INES.
  • The inaugural cohort comprises nine international fellows from eight countries, including ISA-nominated participants.
  • The United Nations Industrial Development Organisation is sponsoring the programme, which pairs classroom and industry training with a planned one-month Europe internship after graduation.
  • The diploma stems from a Framework for Action between IIT Delhi and the ISA earlier in 2026 and is intended to create trainers for Solar Technology Application Resource Centres, strengthening local solar deployment and skills across member countries.
