IIT Delhi and AIIMS Delhi Launch Center of Excellence for AI in Healthcare

Overview

  • On June 4, 2025, IIT Delhi and AIIMS Delhi signed a memorandum of understanding to establish the Center of Excellence for AI in Healthcare.
  • The center is funded by a ₹330 crore grant from the Ministry of Education under the “Make AI in India, Make AI Work for India” initiative.
  • It will serve as the principal platform for implementing AI-driven tools to strengthen key national health programs.
  • Building on their history of joint research, the institutes aim to position the CoE as a leading national and global research hub.
  • Project leaders say the initiative will develop AI-based training programs for medical staff and create tools to improve service quality in remote and marginalized regions.
