Overview
- The Y-Point Venture Capital Fund is managed by IIT Bombay’s incubator SINE and is described as India’s first institute-linked deep-tech VC vehicle.
- The fund targets pre-seed and seed rounds across 25–30 startups, with a maximum investment of Rs 15 crore per company.
- Backed companies will come from IIT Bombay and other premier research institutes, with post-investment support leveraging campus infrastructure and guidance.
- Focus areas include artificial intelligence, advanced computing, manufacturing, materials, nuclear technology, space and defence, climate and cleantech, life sciences and healthcare.
- SINE’s CEO said fundraising has SEBI approval and is expected to close in six to nine months, aiming to bridge India’s early-stage deep-tech funding gap.
