IIT Bombay’s SINE Launches Rs 250 Crore Y-Point, India’s First Incubator-Linked Deep-Tech VC Fund

The SEBI-registered Category II AIF targets pre-seed to seed investments to bridge lab-to-market gaps for science-led startups.

  • SINE will manage the Y-Point Venture Capital Fund, marking its move from incubation and mentorship to direct investment management.
  • The fund plans to back 25–30 companies with individual investments of up to Rs 15 crore.
  • Initial focus spans AI, advanced computing, advanced manufacturing, advanced materials, space and defence, nuclear technology, climate and cleantech, and life sciences and healthcare.
  • While rooted in IIT Bombay’s research ecosystem, the fund will also invest in ventures from other premier academic and research institutions.
  • Announced in Mumbai on December 9, the fund has disclosed its structure and mandate but has not named first investments yet.
