IHMCL, ICICI Bank Sign Deals to Launch India’s First MLFF Barrier‑Free Tolling at Choryasi and Gharaunda

NHAI targets about 25 plazas this financial year.

Overview

  • IHMCL, promoted by NHAI, signed an agreement with ICICI Bank to implement Multi‑Lane Free Flow tolling at Choryasi Fee Plaza on NH‑48 in Gujarat.
  • A separate agreement covers an MLFF deployment at Gharaunda Fee Plaza on NH‑44 in Haryana.
  • Choryasi will become the country’s first barrier‑free toll plaza under the MLFF model, according to the road transport ministry.
  • The system reads FASTag via RFID and captures vehicle registration numbers with ANPR cameras to collect tolls without stopping, which authorities say will reduce congestion, travel time, and emissions.
  • NHAI said the signings took place at its New Delhi headquarters in the presence of Chairman Santosh Kumar Yadav, and the process of selecting additional plazas for rollout is underway.
