IHCL Doubles Midscale Portfolio with Acquisitions and Distribution Deal

The Tata Group hospitality firm plans to fold 135 Clarks-operated midscale properties under its Ginger brand through capital-light management contracts

Overview

  • On August 13, IHCL signed definitive agreements to acquire controlling stakes in ANK Hotels and Pride Hospitality, adding 135 Clarks-operated midscale hotels across 110 Indian locations.
  • The company also secured a distribution agreement with Brij Hospitality to bring 19 experiential leisure hotels into its expanded brandscape.
  • These moves expand IHCL’s total portfolio to over 550 hotels and approximately 55,000 rooms, effectively doubling its mid-market footprint to more than 240 properties.
  • The expansion is driven by Ginger’s strong FY25 performance, with 71% average occupancy and reported EBITDAR margins of 50–55%.
  • Integration and rebranding under IHCL’s brands will occur over the coming months on a capital-light basis, retaining existing management teams for business continuity.
