Overview
- The IGP reported a magnitude 4.4 quake at 03:53 local time on Sept. 28, located 44 km west of Zorritos (Tumbes) at 33 km depth with intensity III.
- A magnitude 3.6 event was recorded at 03:07 near Huacho (Lima), 50 km west of the coast at 31 km depth with intensity II–III.
- On Sept. 27 at 13:59, a magnitude 4.0 quake occurred 61 km southeast of Zorritos (Tumbes) at 81 km depth, following a Sept. 26 magnitude 4.3 in Ayacucho near Pampamarca at 112 km depth.
- Local authorities reported no material damage or casualties from these small-to-moderate earthquakes.
- IGP chief Hernando Tavera emphasized safe construction to reduce risk, and INDECI advised family contingency plans and emergency kits as Peru lies on the Pacific Ring of Fire.
