A new monitoring committee will oversee infrastructure upgrades, digitization, staffing reforms under a dedicated budget.
Overview
- The Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts submitted a detailed feasibility-and-action report recommending full-scale physical renovations such as modern furniture, compact shelving, museum-style displays and termite treatment coordinated by the Power and Works Department.
- The report outlines a digital knowledge ecosystem featuring a Library Portal, Koha LMS, a DSpace repository, OCR-based archival digitization and subscriptions to DELNET, PressReader and Magzter.
- It proposes renaming the facility as the Delhi Legislative Assembly Library, Archives and Museum to highlight its combined library, archival and museum functions.
- Staffing reforms call for hiring a senior library consultant, an assistant library and information officer, two library attendants and engaging LIS trainees with revised pay scales.
- Implementation will be guided by a Project Monitoring Committee in partnership with IGNCA, the Power and Works Department, Parliament Library and the British Library and supported by allocated project funds.
