IGJ Backs Off Appointing Overseer for AFA Finances After Auditor Hearings

Regulators will continue reviewing newly submitted records with a January 20 deadline for details on UNAFA and related fund uses.

Overview

  • Inspector General Daniel Vítolo decided not to recommend a veedor after AFA began disaggregating global balance items from 2017–2024 and auditors answered questions.
  • The IGJ said its technical team is analyzing the material and will decide after the review whether to demand more precision or close the administrative requests.
  • The LPF/Superliga reported it delivered all requested documentation and cleared prior observations, while auditor Fernando Dubois acknowledged delays and pledged clarifications by January 20.
  • Vítolo stressed the IGJ has not accused AFA or its leaders of crimes, noting its administrative remit, as a DGI complaint against Claudio Tapia and separate federal probes proceed independently.
  • The regulator softened tensions over AFA’s attempt to shift legal domicile to Buenos Aires Province but said it has no record of formal notification and requires the move to meet statutory procedures.
