Overview
- The IECM's General Council approved the formal methodology on Thursday, July 2, and ordered its immediate implementation across the city.
- Eighty specialists served on the 16 boroughs' ruling panels and were chosen through registration, document checks, interviews and random selection.
- Those specialists reviewed citizen proposals for technical, legal, environmental and financial viability and judged whether projects offered community benefit.
- District directors will carry out the administrative evaluations during July and the IECM instructed the participation commission, the executive participation office and 33 district offices to support the process; no evaluation results or sanctions have been published yet.
- The review seeks to strengthen transparency and compliance in the Participatory Budget process, which lets residents propose and prioritize local projects and relies on expert rulings to screen items before public voting.
