Overview

• Crews initiated the first of three nightly closures Monday, reducing I-80 to one lane between River and Houbolt roads at 8 p.m. and closing key I-55 ramps later in the evening before a full shutdown from 1–5 a.m.
• Detours direct northbound I-55 traffic onto eastbound I-80 to Houbolt Road and reroute southbound vehicles via westbound I-80 to Ridge Road during complete overnight closures.
• One lane in each direction on I-55 will reopen by 5 a.m. each morning, with all lanes and ramps restored by 6 a.m. Thursday following the final night of work.
• Outbound Kennedy Expressway operations are reduced to one lane between Washington Boulevard and Addison from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., with express lane and intermittent ramp closures from midnight to 5 a.m.
• IDOT’s summer reconstruction campaign includes rebuilding about 16 miles of I-80 and 30 bridges from Minooka to New Lenox, with full corridor upgrades scheduled through 2028.
