IDF Tightens West Bank Security After Kedumim Attack as Israel Says Two Senior Hamas Chiefs Killed

Investigators are examining whether IDF gunfire wounded the Israeli civilian during the Jit Junction incident.

Overview

  • An Israeli man in his 20s was seriously injured near Kedumim and the suspected attacker, 24-year-old Mahmoud al-A’qad from Nablus, was shot dead by security forces.
  • The military imposed roadblocks and checkpoints and carried out searches in Nablus and nearby villages, and traffic on the Huwara road was halted following the assault.
  • Early reports differed on whether the assault was a shooting or a ramming, and the IDF later described it as a vehicular attack while probing possible friendly fire.
  • Separately, the IDF and Shin Bet said they killed Hassan Mahmoud Hassan Husin, a Nukhba company commander linked to the Route 232 roadside shelter killings and kidnappings on October 7.
  • The agencies also reported an airstrike that killed Musa Shaldan, deputy commander of Hamas’s Zeitoun Battalion who appeared in hostage release videos and directed attacks on Israeli forces, as strikes in Gaza continued.
