Overview
- Riley and Noah Watkins, 13, from Cottingham in East Yorkshire, each developed hypothalamic hamartoma alongside moyamoya disease, with Riley diagnosed in 2017 and Noah in 2025.
- Riley was initially discharged from Hull Royal Infirmary before specialists at Leeds General Infirmary identified moyamoya and a hypothalamic hamartoma later in 2017.
- Riley underwent two revascularisation surgeries at LGI in January and April 2018, with the family supported by The Sick Children's Trust’s Eckersley House near the hospital.
- Noah showed near-identical symptoms in January 2025, had an angiogram in February, and underwent two operations in April and May with the same surgeon, with the family reporting good medical progress.
- Both boys require ongoing scans and must avoid activities such as playing wind instruments and contact sports, while their parents raise awareness and fundraise, including a planned London Marathon effort for the trust.
