Idaho Teen and Mother Charged with Kidnapping for Taking Underage Girl Across State Lines for Abortion

Mother and son duo face second-degree kidnapping for allegedly taking a 15-year-old girl, who claims to have had a consensual relationship with the son, across state lines to Oregon for an abortion without her parents’ consent, amidst Idaho's strict anti-abortion laws.

18-year-old Kadyn Swainston and his mother, Rachael Swainston from Pocatello, Idaho, have been charged with second-degree kidnapping, accused of taking a 15-year-old girl across state lines without her parents' consent for an abortion in Oregon.
The investigation began when the girl's mother reported the alleged rape of her daughter by Kadyn and subsequent abortion in Oregon.
Rachael Swainston is also facing charges related to drug trafficking in methamphetamine and possession of substances including fentanyl and psychedelic mushrooms.
Kadyn faces additional charges of rape and producing child sexually exploitive material, with police finding sexually explicit photos and videos on the girl's phone.
Despite Idaho's recently instituted controversial 'abortion trafficking' law banning adults from helping minors across state lines for abortion without the parents' permission, neither the mother nor the son have been charged within its scope.
