Iconic DDR Comic 'Mosaik' Celebrates 70 Years of Adventure

The long-running German comic series marks its milestone with monthly celebrations and a historic crossover in 2025.

First published in 1955 in East Berlin, 'Mosaik' is Germany's oldest ongoing comic series, originally created as an alternative to Western comics like Mickey Mouse.
The series transitioned from its original Digedags trio to the current Abrafaxe characters in 1976, who have since become cultural icons.
The 70th anniversary will feature monthly surprises for readers throughout 2025, including exclusive content for subscribers and a special 600th issue by year's end.
A long-awaited storyline will see the Abrafaxe meet the legendary German folk character Till Eulenspiegel for the first time, fulfilling a decades-old promise to fans.
Despite its roots in the DDR, 'Mosaik' has maintained a loyal international following, with approximately 40,000 subscribers, including many former East Germans living abroad.
