Iconic Australian Brand Rivers to Close All Stores by April

The closure marks the end of a 45-year legacy as Mosaic Brands struggles to recover from financial collapse.

Rivers, a well-known Australian clothing and footwear brand, will shut down all 136 stores by mid-April, resulting in 650 job losses.
The decision comes after receivers failed to secure a buyer for the brand, which had been part of the financially troubled Mosaic Brands portfolio.
Rivers is the seventh Mosaic-owned brand to be discontinued, following closures of Katies, Rockmans, Autograph, Crossroads, W Lane, and BeMe in recent months.
Mosaic Brands, which entered administration in October 2024 with $249 million in debt, is still attempting to sell its remaining brands, Millers and Noni B.
The collapse highlights challenges in adapting to evolving retail markets, despite Rivers' early success as one of Australia’s first online retailers.
