ICMBio Sets New Fees for Brazil’s Federal Conservation Units Starting Nov. 1

The overhaul standardizes pricing nationwide, preserving targeted discounts and exemptions.

Overview

  • The portaria published on Oct. 16 in the Diário Oficial da União formalizes standardized entrance and service price tables across federal Conservation Units.
  • Entrance prices vary by unit, with Brasília at R$40, Tijuca at R$54, Abrolhos at R$20 with exemption for surrounding residents, and Fernando de Noronha at R$384 with a 50% discount for Brazilians.
  • The rule keeps a 50% resident discount in Brasília for those in the Federal District and IBGE-recognized environs and maintains exemptions for children up to 12 and seniors.
  • Units that use visitor scheduling systems may choose not to charge entry at the reservation stage under the new norm.
  • Service and administrative charges were updated, including a R$73 annual guide accreditation in Brasília, vehicle accreditation fees in Jericoacoara, and new daily location and lodging rates in Tijuca, Serra dos Órgãos and the Ipanema forest.
