Iceland Recalls Sub Rolls Over Undeclared Barley Allergy Risk

A Food Standards Agency alert warns that undeclared barley in the rolls could endanger those with gluten or barley allergies.

Overview

  • The recall covers Daily Bakery 4 Sub Rolls bearing a best before date of June 2, 2025.
  • Barley is not listed on the packaging and contains gluten that can trigger reactions in people with Coeliac disease or barley allergy.
  • Symptoms of barley allergy or intolerance may include itching, hives, swelling, breathing difficulties, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea and abdominal pain.
  • Consumers are urged not to eat the affected rolls and can return them to any Iceland store for a full refund without needing a receipt.
  • Point-of-sale notices will remain in stores until June 11 and the recall has been in effect since May 29 following the FSA alert.
