ICE Reactivates $10 Million Reward for Iván Archivaldo Guzmán Salazar

The reactivation reflects a broader U.S. push using public bounties, sanctions and prosecutions to dismantle the cartel’s fentanyl trafficking network.

Overview

  • ICE re-posted a $10 million reward on X for information leading to Iván Archivaldo’s arrest or conviction, warning he is armed and dangerous and directing tips to Homeland Security Investigations at 520-335-7315.
  • In June, the U.S. Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control doubled its bounty for Iván and brother Jesús Alfredo and sanctioned a Mazatlán-based network tied to fentanyl production, trafficking and money laundering.
  • U.S. authorities have designated the Sinaloa Cartel, including Los Chapitos, as a foreign terrorist organization and accuse Iván’s leadership of triggering a wave of violence against civilians, law enforcement and rival cartels.
  • Iván and Jesús Alfredo remain at large after Iván evaded a January capture attempt through a Culiacán tunnel, while brother Ovidio pleaded guilty in July and is due for sentencing on January 9, 2026, and Joaquín Guzmán López remains in U.S. custody.
  • The reward reactivation is part of an escalating, transnational strategy by ICE, the DOJ and OFAC in coordination with Mexican agencies to target cartel leadership, financing and fentanyl trafficking operations.
