ICE Employee Among 16 Arrested in Minnesota Undercover Sex Sting

Four suspects face charges, with prosecutors reviewing 12 additional cases.

  • Bloomington police said the three-day Operation Creep used online decoys posing as a 17-year-old to identify men seeking to buy sex from a minor.
  • Those arrested include Alexander Steven Back, a 41-year-old civilian auditor for ICE/HSI, who is charged under state law with hiring or agreeing to hire a person believed to be under 18.
  • Back was arrested Nov. 13 after texting with an undercover officer, booked into Hennepin County Jail, released on a $75,000 bond, and is due in court Dec. 17.
  • Also charged are Sasenarine Ghamandy, Emmanuel Lopez, and Nicholas Daniel Schaitberger, with Schaitberger additionally accused of possessing more than 10 grams of methamphetamine.
  • Police said some suspects arrived with drugs or firearms, and evidence on the other 12 arrestees has been submitted to the Hennepin County Attorney for charging decisions.
