Overview

  • Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrested Chávez Jr. in Studio City on July 2 and initiated expedited removal after deeming him removable on June 27.
  • DHS says the 39-year-old ex-champion entered on a B2 tourist visa in August 2023 and filed a green-card application in April 2024 that included alleged fraudulent statements.
  • He faces an active Mexican arrest warrant accusing him of involvement in organized crime and trafficking firearms, ammunition and explosives as a Sinaloa Cartel affiliate.
  • U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services labeled him an “egregious public safety threat” in December before he was permitted to reenter the U.S. in January.
