ICE Detains Everett Hit-and-Run Suspect After Crosswalk Crash That Critically Injured Woman

ICE says he entered the U.S. in 2022 under “catch and release” with detention pending removal.

  • Police say surveillance video shows the Acura traveling at high speed, striking pedestrian Fatna Sefnaj, 63, in an activated crosswalk and throwing her about 78 feet before the car fled.
  • Sefnaj was hospitalized with a brain bleed and other serious injuries and was listed in serious condition, according to the police report.
  • Diaz-Sanchez admitted to hitting the woman and leaving the scene, pleaded not guilty the next day to state charges, and had bail set at $2,500 in Malden District Court.
