Overview
- ICE conducted an enhanced enforcement operation from April 6–12, resulting in the arrest of 206 undocumented immigrants across New York City, Long Island, and the Lower Hudson Valley.
- Of those arrested, 121 individuals had significant criminal convictions or pending charges, including offenses such as murder, assault, arson, sex crimes, and drug trafficking.
- The operation specifically targeted members of transnational gangs, including MS-13, Tren de Aragua, Sureños, and 18th Street, known to operate in the region.
- Many arrests followed local authorities' refusal to honor ICE detainers, releasing individuals who were later re-apprehended by federal agents.
- Officials, including Acting ICE Director Todd M. Lyons and New York City Mayor Eric Adams, praised the operation as a critical step in improving community safety.
