ICE and ATF Capture MS-13 Kingpin Wanted for Five Homicides in Nebraska

Following the January designation of MS-13 as a foreign terrorist organization, federal agencies have stepped up coordinated operations to disrupt the gang’s U.S. leadership.

  • ICE HSI agents apprehended an MS-13 kingpin on El Salvador’s Top 100 Most Wanted list who faces charges for aggravated homicide of five people, attempted aggravated homicide and terrorist-organization affiliation.
  • A 30-year-old associate, identified as Rene Saul Escobar Ochoa, was also detained and is accused of directing murders, extortion and drug trafficking.
  • The operation took place in Omaha, Nebraska, on July 9, and officials said both men were living in the U.S. illegally.
  • Investigators described the arrests as a targeted enforcement action carried out without incident to neutralize a severe threat to local public safety.
