ICE Agents Shoot Driver After Alleged Attempted Ramming in Glen Burnie, Two Hospitalized

Anne Arundel County police are leading a multi-agency review of the Christmas Eve incident.

Overview

  • Police say ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations agents approached a white van around 10:50–11 a.m., the driver allegedly drove at agents, shots were fired, and the van stopped in a wooded area behind homes.
  • One person inside the van was shot and is in stable condition, and a second person outside the vehicle sustained minor injuries; no federal agents were reported injured.
  • DHS and ICE said the driver was identified as Tiago Alexandre Sousa-Martins of Portugal and the passenger as Solomon Antonio Serrano-Esquivel of El Salvador, both characterized by the agency as undocumented.
  • The Anne Arundel County Police Criminal Investigations Division is reviewing the shooting, the FBI is investigating the alleged assault on federal agents, and ICE is conducting an internal inquiry.
  • Neighbors described a chase from a nearby Walmart and hearing multiple gunshots, and recent reporting has documented at least nine immigration enforcement-related shootings nationwide this year.
