Overview

  • The stop clock requiring fielding teams to start each over within 60 seconds with two warnings and a five-run penalty on third breach is now active in Test matches for the 2025–27 World Test Championship cycle.
  • From July 2, ODIs will use a single ball from the 35th over with discretionary ball changes only when umpires judge saliva application has altered its condition.
  • Revised DRS protocols mandate that multiple incidents on the same delivery be assessed in chronological order and allow a secondary mode of dismissal to retain the on-field umpire’s original decision.
  • Third umpires will now review the fairness of catches on no-balls and airborne ‘bunny hop’ boundary catches are outlawed to uphold fielding standards.
  • Member boards have begun trialling like-for-like injury substitutes in domestic first-class matches to extend concussion-style protocols to serious external injuries.
