Iberdrola Receives Final XXL Monopiles for Windanker Offshore Wind Farm

A €36 million Fene plant upgrade enabled delivery of 84-meter monopiles for the 315 MW Baltic Sea project.

Overview

  • Iberdrola has taken delivery of the last of the 84-meter, 2,100-tonne monopiles destined for its Windanker wind farm in German Baltic waters.
  • The foundations were manufactured by Navantia Seanergies and Windar Renovables at the upgraded Fene facility under the 2021 framework agreement.
  • The Fene plant modernization expanded XXL monopile fabrication capacity and created 300 direct jobs in the region.
  • Windanker’s 315 MW will join Iberdrola’s 1,100 MW Baltic Hub alongside Wikinger and Baltic Eagle under a €3.5 billion joint investment.
  • The offshore farm is slated to begin operations in 2026 with 15 MW turbines, advancing Iberdrola’s drive toward 6,500 MW of offshore wind by 2030.
