Overview
- Construction has begun on a 22 MWp photovoltaic plant of more than 30,000 panels integrated with a 49 MWh battery system.
- A 622 kWp floating solar array at the Xaréu reservoir was inaugurated, expected to produce about 1,083 MWh annually and avoid roughly 717 tonnes of CO₂ each year.
- The initiative carries investment of more than €50 million, equivalent to roughly 350 million reais.
- The program forms part of Neoenergia’s Mais por Noronha collaboration with Brazil’s Ministry of Mines and Energy and the Pernambuco state government.
- The island has relied on the Tubarão biodiesel plant for power, which is set to shift to backup as phase one starts in April 2026 and phase two follows in 2027.
