Overview

  • The EnergyLOOP facility was inaugurated on June 17 in Cortes, Navarra, marking the first dedicated wind turbine blade recycling plant in the Iberian Peninsula.
  • It is engineered to handle 10,000 tons of decommissioned blades each year and extract materials for sectors from aerospace to construction.
  • Backed by a nearly €10 million investment, the project secured an IDAE subsidy through the PERTE de Repotenciación Circular program and support from the Gobierno de Navarra and Sodena.
  • EnergyLOOP is forecast to create around 100 direct and indirect green jobs over the next decade, boosting rural employment.
  • The first blades processed will come from Iberdrola’s Isabela and Molar de Molinar wind farms ahead of an estimated 5,700 turbines retiring annually in Europe by 2030.
