Overview

• Manish Ranjan, an Intelligence Bureau section officer based in Hyderabad, was killed in a terrorist ambush near Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, on April 22 while traveling with his family.
• His wife and two young children escaped the attack unharmed after Ranjan urged them to flee in the opposite direction upon hearing gunfire.
• The attack has left Ranjan’s family in Bihar and relatives across India in deep grief, with his wife and children now preparing for his last rites.
• Bihar Governor Arif Mohammad Khan and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar have strongly condemned the attack and expressed solidarity with the grieving family.
