IAF Deploys Mi-17s, Chinook and C-130 in Ongoing JammuPunjab Flood Rescues

Overview

  • Five Mi-17 helicopters and a Chinook were launched from Northern Sector bases, including Chandigarh, with more helicopters ready to join operations.
  • An IAF C-130 landed in Jammu carrying relief supplies and an NDRF team to bolster the response on the ground.
  • Helicopters winched 38 Army soldiers and 10 BSF personnel in Dera Baba Nanak, along with 12 Army troops and 11 BSF personnel in Akhnoor.
  • IAF crews evacuated 46 stranded civilians in Pathankot and airlifted 50 Punjab Irrigation Department staff trapped at Madhopur Headworks after a barrage gate failure.
  • More than 750 kg of essential aid, including drinking water and food, was airdropped to cut-off areas as missions continued under Defence Ministry coordination.
