- The Immigration Advice Authority has paused its online competence assessment while it implements a new contract, platform and test arrangements.
- The authority has published revised syllabuses and will add a dedicated Code of Standards, ethics and professional behaviours component to the exams.
- Under the new pathway, candidates must pass the competence assessment before they can be added to an IAA‑regulated organisation or apply to set up one.
- Operational changes aim to improve access by running tests more often, replacing the old resource book with approved whitelisted websites, and launching a new online platform.
- Assessments are expected to resume from November 2026 subject to external dependencies, the IAA will contact existing applicants with options and publish exact dates when confirmed.
