I-680 Northbound to Close Overnight This Weekend as Livermore Sobriety Checkpoint Targets Impaired Drivers

Caltrans plans the shutdown to complete critical bridge deck work without live traffic

  • Northbound I-680 near the Mission San Jose overpass in Fremont will be closed from 10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 8 until 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 11 with detours via Highway 238 and Niles Canyon Road.
  • Caltrans says the full bridge deck resurfacing and approach slab repairs require a complete overnight shutdown to shorten project duration and maintain worker and motorist safety.
  • The California Highway Patrol and Livermore Police Department will run a sobriety and driver license checkpoint on Friday night from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. at an undisclosed location in Livermore.
