Overview
- Moving I-4 Forward confirmed on July 14 that the single eastbound Exit 62 has been permanently split into two ramps: 62A to World Drive southbound and 62B to World Drive northbound and S.R. 417 northbound.
- Visitors driving eastbound on I-4 from the Lakeland and Tampa directions should use Exit 62B to reach Walt Disney World’s parks and resorts, since 62A leads away from the resort.
- FDOT published mid-July traffic advisories with overnight closures and detours, including a full eastbound I-4 closure between World Drive and U.S. 192 on the night of July 19–20 that will affect travel plans.
- The ramp split is a state Moving I-4 Forward project and is separate from the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District’s World Drive North widening project, which has been delayed about 15 months to late 2027.
- Local reporting says the permanent change has already caused confusion for drivers, and officials urge motorists to check FDOT updates, know they must choose A or B on the mainline, and allow extra time to avoid missed exits and detours.
