I-35 Reconstruction Over Lady Bird Lake to Begin Aug. 10 With Trail, Parking and Ramp Closures

Overview

  • The parking lot beneath the I-35 bridges will close on Aug. 10 for the duration of the multi-year reconstruction.
  • ADA-accessible detours will reroute hikers, cyclists and paddlers during three-to-seven-day trail and waterway closures up to three times annually.
  • The southbound Woodland Avenue exit and northbound Cesar Chavez ramp will remain shut through early 2026 with alternative routes via Riverside Drive and the Eighth to 11th Street ramps.
  • Partial or full restrictions will affect Edward Rendon Sr. Park, Waller Beach, Chicano Park and Norwood Dog Park at various stages of the project.
  • TxDOT will deploy erosion and sediment controls alongside regular water quality monitoring and rapid-response protocols to protect Lady Bird Lake.
