Hyundai Unveils $56 Billion Plan Through 2030, Adds $2.7 Billion Georgia Expansion

The company pivots toward hybrids and U.S. production to reduce tariff exposure.

Overview

  • Hyundai committed 77.3 trillion won for 2026–2030, raising prior guidance by 7 trillion won to fund electrification, software-defined vehicles and manufacturing upgrades.
  • The Metaplant in Georgia will receive $2.7 billion to lift capacity to 500,000 vehicles by 2028 and add about 3,000 jobs, while the jointly operated battery plant’s opening is now expected in the first half of 2026 after a Sept. 4 ICE raid that detained roughly 475 workers.
  • The company targets more than 80% of U.S. sales to be built domestically by 2030, with local supply content planned to increase from about 60% to 80%.
  • Product plans include more than 18 hybrid models by 2030, extended‑range EVs starting in 2027 with over 600 miles of range, and a body‑on‑frame midsize pickup for North America before 2030, alongside an expanded high‑performance N lineup.
  • Near‑term guidance was revised to 5–6% revenue growth and a 6–7% operating margin for 2025, with Hyundai reaffirming a 2030 goal of 5.55 million global sales and a 60% electrified mix.
