Hyundai Opens Bookings for India-Spec Bayon, Launch Set for October 26

The compact crossover is being marketed as a tech-first model that uses software-updatable electronics and a generative AI voice assistant to stand between the Venue and Creta.

Overview

  • Hyundai Motor India opened bookings for the Bayon on Monday, October 12, with a refundable deposit of Rs. 11,000 and a formal launch scheduled for October 26 followed by deliveries during the festive season.
  • The Bayon will introduce Hyundai India’s first generative AI voice assistant, which combines Intelligence by Perplexity for responses with SoundHound AI for voice processing to handle conversational requests such as trip planning and live information.
  • The car’s cockpit pairs dual curved 12.3-inch displays with an NVIDIA-accelerated Connected Car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC) and Hyundai Bluelink offering more than 70 connected services and a multi-language interface.
  • Hyundai says the Bayon has up to 19 vehicle controllers that can receive Controller Over-the-Air (C-OTA) updates, allowing software and some feature improvements to be delivered remotely without a dealer visit.
  • India’s Bayon uses a conventional 1.5-litre MPi petrol engine (about 115 PS, 144 Nm) with a 6-speed manual or IVT, no turbo/diesel or factory CNG has been confirmed, and early media estimates place ex-showroom pricing roughly between Rs. 9 lakh and Rs. 15 lakh while it will compete with models such as the Maruti Victoris, Honda Elevate and Kia Seltos.
