Overview

  • Jaiwon Shin will leave his posts as head of Hyundai’s advanced air mobility division and CEO of Supernal on Aug. 31 to serve as an advisor.
  • David Rottblatt, previously head of business development, is appointed interim chief operating officer to run Supernal until a new leader is selected.
  • A company spokesperson said CFO Iksoo Chun remains in the role and is working with Rottblatt on the structure and timing of future operations.
  • Hyundai characterizes the move as positioning Supernal for its next phase, while The Air Current reports the firm has not flown a representative full‑scale eVTOL despite more than $1.5 billion invested.
  • FlightGlobal reports Supernal conducted only tethered demonstrator flights this year and reduced its U.S. headcount by about 10% earlier in the summer.
